Optimal flavour retention is incredibly important for a perfectly roasted coffee. So good coffee needs to be properly protected. The future of coffee bags lies in mono-materials: coffee bags made from a single material.
Aluminium free
Until recently, coffee packaging coated with a metallised barrier or aluminium were standard. Great for preserving coffee, but not the most sustainable choice – ‘Plastic Hero’, for example, does not collect them with other plastic waste. These packaging materials are not easily recyclable.
Working with some of our customers, we started testing alternative materials to make packaging free of aluminium, while maintaining the barrier properties to keep the coffee as fresh as possible. We succeeded and this has been the standard for us for some time now – a trend and transition that is now filtering through to supermarkets. We continue to innovate. For example, all our coffee bags are also carbon neutral, and mono-material is becoming the new standard.
Coffee bags made from a single material
Choose sustainable coffee bags made from mono-material. Using a single type of plastic makes your packaging better recyclable. Plastic packaging materials are collected along with other plastic waste. All our coffee packaging is carbon neutral. The packaging’s carbon footprint is offset by means of various carbon-reducing projects in coffee-producing countries.
With high UV and oxygen barrier
Oxygen and light have a negative impact on the taste and quality of coffee beans. Packaging for coffee must therefore allow little UV to pass through and be airtight. It is important that a coffee packaging stands out, is stable and easy to use.
Coffee bags from stock
You can easily order coffee bags from stock via our Dutch Coffee Pack portal. We are constantly working to develop new forms and optimise materials. For example, we have bags made from 100% PE mono-material and bags with a varnish that feels like paper. Please contact us to discuss the options.
